Our
history
Woden
Valley Bible Church was the dream, vision and prayer of Dom and Leslie
Fiocco since arriving in Canberra in 1999. All too aware of the need for a
greater evangelical presence in Canberra, the Woden and Weston Creek regions
seemed like a great place to plant an independent evangelical church.
With two
other families (six adults and eight young girls!) we began meeting in a
lounge room in December 2002. On 15 February 2003 the Church began
its public gatherings at Garran Primary School on
Saturdays @ 5pm. We started with 16 adults and 14 children and are
grateful and praise God for how He has grown His Church since then.
Through
the generosity of the Church, Dom Fiocco
was employed as the full-time Pastor from the beginning. He trained at Moore
Theological College in Sydney and has ministered at St James Anglican
Church, Carlton (Sydney) and at Crossroads Christian Church (Canberra). In
2007 he was joined by another Pastor, Chris
Nelson. Chris has trained at Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC)
and at Morling Baptist College (Sydney) and has served in Baptist Churches
in Pambula, Muswellbrook and Parkes. He, like Dom, is supported full-time by
the Church.
On 9
September 2007 we launched our second public gathering – this time on
Sundays @ 7pm. Known as "Café Church" this is a
relaxed, informal church service seeking to reach out with the Gospel and
build the Body of Christ. |
